In the past 24 hours, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) forces successfully destroyed three Iranian-backed Houthi uncrewed surface vessels (USV) in the Red Sea.
The decision was made because these systems posed a serious threat to U.S., coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the area. This action was necessary to ensure the freedom of navigation and to make international waters safer and more secure for U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels.
Iranian-backed Houthis launched three anti-ship ballistic missiles (ASBM) from a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen into the Gulf of Aden. No injuries or significant damage were reported by U.S., coalition, or merchant vessels.
As reported by the U.S. Central Command recent claims about a successful attack by Houthi forces on the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) are categorically false.
